Minecraft Game Bar Mitzvah at Continental Pool Lounge in Rosslyn, VA
When Shana called me, she wanted a new, fresh perspective on planning a Bar Mitzvah. After our initial discussion, it was clear that we would be great partners for planning her son’s bar mitzvah.
Spencer did not want to have a typical dance party, he would’ve been perfectly happy just playing virtual reality for the day, but of course, his family wanted to celebrate him. We had to think outside of the box to create an environment, where friends and family could still gather, and Spencer could play all the games that he wanted to.
Enter Continental Pool Lounge. Continental Pool Lounge is a local bar that has several games already there. There is also a small area in the back where people could gather for dancing or MC lead games.
Skee-ball, Pop-a-shot, pool and ping-pong, were all part of the festivities for Spencer’s bar mitzvah. We also brought in a virtual reality game where kids could individually play a game of their choosing.
To make some of these games, feel a little bit more special for Spencer’s big day. We had some ping-pong paddles customized and also branded the claw machine a few other fun touches we did were some signs throughout the space and customized the lighting fixtures over the pool tables.
Spencers one other favorite thing at the time was Minecraft. So of course we had to incorporate that into the theme as well. To really bring that to life we had a custom smash wall fabricated that everybody had to walk through upon entry to the venue.
We also brought in custom lighting patterns to create a fun brick look.
However, the coolest thing for this event was the favor. Each family got to take home a custom game box that was designed and produced by LR Events. The game box itself had sort of a brick/Minecraft pattern. Inside we had all of Spencer’s favorite things; a chess game, complete with green and white pieces and a custom pattered board, a custom Rubik’s cube, fidget, spinner, poppers, and water bottles with is logo on it. The adults also got to take home portable phone, chargers.
Even though this event took place during Covid, it was still a wild success. It really felt like Spencer’s celebration, not every other Bar Mitzvah. We couldn’t have been happier to give Spencer the day that he truly wanted.
